Sookie Stackhouse
Sookie Stackhouse is the main character of the show. She is a telepath (later discovered to be a fairy/fae), girlfriend of Bill Compton (vampire), and sister to Jason Stackhouse. Twice orphaned; first at the age of 7 her parent were killed in a flash flood, and again at 25 when her paternal grandmother Adele Stackhouse was murdered by a serial killer in Season 1 Episode 5 titled "Sparks Fly Out". The series follows Sookie and her tumultuous life in Bon Temps.
Bill Compton
173 year old vampire boyfriend of Sookie Stackhouse. Basically the catalyst for all turmoil in the show. Made by a vampire named Lorena in 1868.
Godric
Was the sheriff of district 9. After well over 2000 years of vampire life (turned around 134 bc. at the age of 15) and emotions towards humanity ranging from anger and vengeance to preaching a message of a peaceful co-existence- Godric decided to expose himself to the sun and end his existence. Sookie, being human, stayed with him.

Nan Flanagan
Leader of the AVL and of high authority in the vampire world. She is the face of vampire rights, often appearing on televised debates and press conferences.
Steve Newlin
Anti-vampire reverend of the Fellowship of the Sun. Preaches that vampires are "ungodly", an abomination and should all be killed
Jason Stackhouse
Sookie's impressionable older brother. Former high school football hero turned "V" (vampire blood) addict, turned Soldier of the Sun. Always with good intentions especially when it comes to his sister.
